Lawyer’s fees for seller

The legal fees or lawyer fees are paid by the seller when selling a property in Spain.

The lawyer checks the documents, calculates the taxes that you have to pay after the sale and is usually in charge of connecting to the lawyer on the buyer’s side.

He or she ensures that all the legal documentation is correct regarding everything that is related to the sale part.

Lawyers should also have the legal know-how to make option contracts, apply for NIE numbers, and after-sales services like changing the utility bills and community charges to the new owner for example.

It is common for lawyers to charge 1% of the purchase price and it might cost less if there is a straightforward purchase, especially if it is a big value property.

These fees are calculated based on the guidelines published by the lawyer’s professional association.
